Retirement Plans for Full-time Traders

Recorded Nov. 14, 2012

The best retirement plan for business traders is an Individual 401(k). It maximizes income tax savings vs. self-employment tax or payroll tax cost. Set it up before year-end in connection with your trading business. Roth IRAs provide an opportunity for permanent tax savings on trading income. Consider a Roth conversion before year-end. And there’s no need to worry — you can do a re-characterization if it doesn’t work out well.

Looks fine, Mandy (Smitson CPA).  Good job, and thank you for making it sooooo easy.  I don't like paying any more than the next guy, but it makes sense, and I appreciate you.  Makes for a nice goal to offset those capital losses in 2017!
