Principal

ROLE AT FIRM

Upon being promoted to Principal on October 16, 2025, Star assumes primary responsibilities, including leading firm operations, participating in strategic decision-making, and fostering client relationships. A key focus for Star initially will be overseeing project management and budgeting.

After joining the firm in 2008, Star Johnson prepared thousands of tax returns for traders from across the United States.  As Manager, she was responsible for consultations with new and existing clients, preparing and reviewing tax returns, and training new hires on the firm’s positions related to trader tax laws. 

Star has contributed to Robert Green’s annual Trader Tax Guide publication for several years and served as the editor of the most recent Green’s 2026, 2025, and 2024 Trader Tax Guides.  She strives for customer service that gives her clients the reassuring feeling that an expert has handled their tax matters.  Take note of Mrs. Johnson’s academic and CPA exam excellence. She is brilliant and we value that! 

PRIOR WORK EXPERIENCE

While still a college student, Star began her career in Public Accounting as an intern at a local firm in Corbin, KY, and was hired full-time the day after her graduation.  She was a valuable member of their construction and governmental audit teams, prepared financial statements for many local businesses and medical practices, and prepared a wide array of individual and business tax returns.  Her employment with that firm continued from January 2004 to December 2007.  

While employed with this firm, she studied and passed the CPA exam, earning scores of 88 or higher on all parts.  In fact, she scored highest in Kentucky in the 1^st quarter of 2007 on the FAR section of the exam.  What an accomplishment!
